The company was founded in October 1932 as Hatta Brewery. In October 1986, the company was reorganised as a joint-stock company and renamed Echigo Sake Brewery, and its representative brand Echino Yatsuho was launched nationwide. Echigo Brewery is located in Kuzuka, Kita-ku, Niigata City (formerly Toei City), about 40 minutes by car from the centre of Niigata City. A short drive away, the area has a peaceful rural landscape and is home to the Fukushima Lagoon, a treasure trove of wild birds, including the protected Greater Amphibian. Sake is brewed in such a rich natural environment using local sake rice in the cold of winter.
Junmai-shu Amagame has been a brand name since the company was founded and is a long-selling product. It is characterised by its mild aroma and dry, crisp taste. It can be enjoyed at any temperature, from cold to room temperature to hot, but we recommend drinking it warmed up to around 50°C.
