Founded in 1673, this is the oldest sake brewery in Tochigi Prefecture, celebrating its 350th anniversary this year. Representative brand Kaika. Under the belief that "sake brewing starts with rice cultivation", the brewery uses sake rice grown by the brewer himself in his own rice fields and rice grown by local farmers as the main ingredients. We are dedicated to making it a locally-loved, daily-drinkable food sake.
This honjozo sake is our best-selling product and has long been loved by local Sano citizens as their evening drink. It is a light, refreshing, umami-kuchi sake with the flavour and sharpness of rice, made using 'Tochigi no Hoshi' rice produced by nearby farmers. It can be enjoyed at a wide range of temperatures: cold, room temperature and warmed.
