The brewery was founded in 1830, at the end of the Edo period, and started brewing sake in this area because of the good water that gushes out. The name of the sake, 'Waraku Goson', means 'If we respect each other, we will have a harmonious and pleasant world'. It was named after Kyohachiro Nomoto, who was active as an entrepreneur in Nagaoka City in the early Showa period (1926-1989).
Wara-Kuppo-Son Honjozo is an aromatic, light, dry, smooth and full-flavoured Honjozo brewed from well-polished rice from Niigata. It has a flavour that enhances the taste of food. It can be drunk cold or warmed to your preferred temperature.
